Farhan is a second year medical student in California. Last year he started medical school and was given the distinction of becoming the Director of one of his school’s free clinics. While being in school and leading a clinic was “pretty sweet”, as Farhan puts it, he also got tired of everything revolving around medicine and a life in medicine he could not look forward to:

“With school and leading a clinic, I got kind of tired with the fact that everything was revolving around medicine in my life. I started to get a glimpse of what life as a burnt attending might be regardless of what specialty I chose so I said screw that and started a YouTube channel to kind of liven up my life.”

He goes on to describe how he chose to live his life the way he wanted and expanding on his passion for creating videos:

I’ve always loved making videos and got pretty good at making documentaries (like damn good if I do say so myself but don’t take my word lol here: Riverside Free Clinic  ) had never done a vlog before so I decided to make it for fun.”

He also noted the impact his videos were making amongst pre-medical students and how he could be  a voice for the next generation of future health professionals:

“Soon I realized that many premeds were watching it and I started to actually see the potential impact something like this might have. I realized that it is a great tool to advocate for better healthcare in our country but in order to do that, we have to change people’s (especially the new generation) mindset about healthcare. Plus there’s a nationwide shortage and being a premed is cutthroat as it is, pretty stupid since our careers rely completely on team effort and work, so I decided let’s try to change it a bit. I’ve done a few talks and our alumni center asked me to talk about medicine and what not so it’s been pretty dope.”

Farhan’s dedication to medicine and his videos are giving his generation of future physicians a voice in healthcare.  Farhan is recognized as the Medical Influencer of the Week.
